One is given an overall positive impression of the product when looking at the box; the box looks professionally done. Upon opening the box I was given the impression of a well-made product. While the presentation of the product is not on par with say that of Apple, or Amazon, overall its gives an impression that you are obtaining a quality product. This case does add some weight to the Air, while at the same time one is given a more sturdy feel to the product. I liked the feel of the rubber gasket-like rear cover. After using the Gladius, this rubber had a familiar, reassuring feel. As if it matters, the real leather hand-strap does have the new leather smell; it is a smell a lot of people like. As far as the assembly of the product, there are provided instructions, but figuring it out is somewhat intuitive even without the instructions. Taking the unit apart so that the iPad can be placed in was straight forward. Opening the clam-shell-like cover takes a little patience, but is not hard to do. I would recommend removing any previously installed screen protector, for this case has one build into the front cover. As for the functioning of the unit, it has functioned well. The pass through the buttons, that is the buttons that passed through the rubber gasket to the iPad below, line up perfectly and every press so far has initiated a press on the iPad’s corresponding button. The port covers seem to fit well they come off and go back on sealing correctly. The new designed case ditches the cover over the 'home' button, to allow for the fingerprint reader of the iPad Air 2 to work. It also has an extra button on the side, that if you are an original iPad Air owner you will have to ignore. The screen protector has nice feel, fits well onto the screen, and has minimal distortion. I think it is an improvement over the older model of the case. It feels somewhat like a stick-on protector. It has functioned well, even into each corner and edges, but I have noticed a little less responsiveness from touches, although I assume any screen protector between my fingers and the screen would 'dull' my touches. I like that the Gladius provides the iPad a protective armored cocoon. This is great for me, for I am a klutz. In addition, although it is extra weight to carry around, it should help protect the resell value of a large investment. Also nice is being able to set my iPad on my desk like a photo stand. I gave the unit a 5 (five) star on the normal rating scale. On a 1 to 10 scale, I could give it a 9. I think it is an excellent product, not perfect.Read full review

Very satisfied with this item. Well-designed and a pleasure to use. The materials are excellent and the alignment of the camera holes and volume buttons are perfect. The built-in stand is sturdy and a great feature!

The rugged iPad air 2 case is a well constructed case. The saying rings true that you get what you pay for. This case is extremely protective and practical. The construction and protection reminds me of the Airbender series that New Trent makes. There is a hard plastic piece that goes around the iPad first and than a durable rubber piece goes over the plastic. There is an attached screen protector and a finger print protector. The provided screen protector and finger print protector fit to the iPad like a glove and works extremely well. I used to take off the screen protectors on my otterbox when they were attached to the case but this screen protector fits too well that I have no desire to take it off. The finger print protector does an extremely good job at staying clean and providing an ease of scanning the finger each time. Before this case I had to clean the finger scanner from time to time so the scanner could get a clear reading, but it is no longer a worry. They have made the case capable for both the iPad air and air 2. There are three volume buttons but only two of them will function base on the model of iPad you own. I never find myself getting confused on which of the three buttons to push. Two features that set this case apart is the hand strap and the stand. The stand has a bottle opener and is medal. The stand is very well made and appears to be constructed to last a very long time. The handle and stand are on a swivel which allows you to set it up or hold it in many different ways. The handle is made of thick leather and is very useful. I use the strap more than I ever thought I would. Every inch of the case is made with premium material. The case looks very professional and I have received compliments about how nice the case looks. I highly recommend this case. I don't mind my toddler using my iPad because I know it is protected. The stand makes it very convenient to watch shows and to type with a keyboard.Read full review

Case adds significant weight to the iPad Air 2 because it's so robust and well made. A clear screen protector is part of the case but it's hard to know it's even there and does not diminish the touch sensitivity of the screen. Upon assembly, there are enough options for strap looseness adjustment. I noticed that my hand sweats a lot when I use the back strap but I solved this problem by sticking 4 small Velcro (loop side) squares around the rotating back and press a round cut piece of microfiber cloth (like the type for car cleaning). The cloth stays put and easily removed for cleaning. I definitely recommend this case.

The Gladius iPad Air case is, overall, a great 'rugged-style' case to protect your iPad from normal daily use and light abuse. Pros: - Generally complete coverage of the iPad - Leather strap is a surprisingly large plus, and greatly enhances the usability of the iPad by giving you more security to use it in different positions - Metal stand feels quality and allows the iPad to be propped up with reasonable stability - Both metal stand and leather strap are on a swivel base that allows the iPad to be positioned in a variety of configurations - Built-in clear plastic screen cover preserves the iPad's responsive to finger and stylus - Built-in rubber port covers keep ports clean - Slight lip protects screen from most face-down drops, while not getting in the way - No cover to close - keeps the iPad protected all the time - Well-aligned buttons - Overall good tactile feel mixing leather, metal (stand), rigid plastic, and moderately rubberized areas Cons: - The leather strap seems a little on the faux leather side, and could be riveted in a little further back from the edge - The swivel strap/stand has detents that permit only a finite number of positions - infinite would be great, double the number of positions would be nice - The iPad is not really completely protected: the camera and speakers are open to the world, which seems a little strange when other ports are protected. The case will probably protect the iPad if you run through a sprinkle, but definitely not dropping it in a sink or running through a torrential downpour. - The overall feel of the case is nice, but perhaps needs to feel a little more 'rugged' and less 'mass-produced plasticky' to truly warrant $45 as a good price. NOTE: I received a complimentary product in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.Read full review
