Sphero has not developed enough content or lessons for this Rover yet, and have elected to remain with their toy balls (Bolt, etc.) for the majority of the content; Just a glorified RC car, which you can get at any major store for $25.

I’m loving hacking around with the Sphere Rvr. I love the industrial design with soft/smooth elegant organic design, and labeling. The hardware has an excellent design, the build quality is great. The RVR has some interesting features that make it fun as a base robot platform. It’s control board is pretty smart, with some sophisticate IMU-based control. The RVR can be commanded to follow or evade another RVR or Bolt. The RVR has IR transceivers in all directions that can be used to send (and receive) commands to some other Sphero products. This IR commands are used to interact with the Bolt, and Rvr so that they can follow or run away. The batteries are pretty well designed -- more engineered than I'm used to seeing. The rollcage and plates are slick and clever and seem to attach robustly.Read full review

The SDK is well documented. I hope they keep adding programming examples. Seems like it will be pretty durable.
