I have only owned this printer for 2 weeks. It is set up on a wireless network that has 2 workstations connected to it. The connection process was straightforward and easy to do with the app that comes with the unit on Windows 10. There are a myriad of ways to connect this printer to computers, tablets, and phones. The text is clear and sharp. Black and white photos are only ok. I rarely print in color but with my limited experience, it appears to me to have a limited color gamut. This is not a photo quality printer imo if you are a critical user. What it is a printer for $149 that produces black and text documents for a penny a page. The J995DW is quick. It comes with an automatic document feeder and a very robust set of software. For the price, I am quite satisfied with the features and build quality. If this printer matches your workload I think you’ll be pleased with the machine. Read full review

It is a good printer overall but improvements could be made so easily and one of those would be a paper tray for 4x6 photo paper. On a Canon printer I had previously there was never no need to remove paper to print photos as on the brother as the Canon had a standard paper tray and an additional tray for photo paper when you went to print you just had to select on your device what size of paper you wanted it printed on and also the quality and the printer would automatically select the paper you had chosen. This brother printer you either have to feed photo paper in one at a time in back or else remove the standard paper and reset the guides for the photo paper. This is a pain!

Easy to setup. Software included on disc but there is an update that needs to be downloaded. Do the download rather than the disc install, it'll save time. Clear concise setup instructions leave nothing to have to guess about. WI-FI setup is a breeze and so is the installation of the ink tanks. The thing that took the longest amount of time was the software install....first from the included disc, then the download. The printer is very quiet and performs as well as expected. As a previous HP AIO owner, I'm totally satisfied with this printer. No more dried out cartridges when I need to print something!

Easy set up, excellent print quality. Ink supply is about 50% full. I love that the number of pages that the remaining ink can print is displayed. Lightweight, easy to move locations. I am convinced that Brothers manufactures high quality printers. I tried another brand (HP) and it was a difficult to set up, the manufacturers warranty was up at the first of the year , when it arrived a week ago, and I had to pay additional money to update a driver. This printer was purchased from HSN- “New”, very frustrating. I couldn’t insert the ink cartilages because the ink holder did not open, ugh….!

The software was as screwed up as Hogan's goat! Had to load four times; first three the printer would not print but would eject all the paper in the tray. Thought it bgest to load initially from the site rather than the DVD; assumed the site would be up to date with all updates - wrong. As soon as I loaded, up came a prompt to load four updates; I believe the updates were the problem. Why Brother doesn't just keep the software updated on the site I do not know. Finally, I loaded from the DVD; loaded the updates, and lo and behold, it prints, scans, and copys.
