Great movie with phenomenal soundtrack - a must buy!!!!!
I bought this movie because Memoirs of a Geisha is a phenomenal movie portraying the life of a young girl sold into the world of the Geisha. I like the movie since it follows her life as she grows up and integrates herself into the world and learns exactly what it means to be a geisha. The movie is very entertaining as well as informative even though it is a fictional movie. The soundtrack to the movie is also AMAZING and one of the best I&apos;ve heard in a long time featuring musicians Yo-Yo Ma (cello) and Itzhak Pearlman (violin). There&apos;s nothing that I dislike about this product...it was just too good of a movie. As far as comparison goes, I wouldn&apos;t even close to compare it to any of the amazing classics, but if you&apos;re looking for something good ... I bought this movie because Memoirs of a Geisha is a phenomenal movie portraying the life of a young girl sold into the world of the Geisha. I am Asian and I truly have known people that sell off their kids to pay off debt. My mother tells me that people would come beg her to take their kids in to provide them a good home and in return they could do house work for us. My mother had never accepted any of them. So it really hits home for me because I know in reality young girls don't have the luxury to become Geisha but plain prostitute or even sex slave. It's really a sad world out there... Overall great pictures, good story line, and soothing scenery. A vivid view of a past oriental culture!
A stunningly beautiful film brought to justice on the Blu ray format. I can see why it won an Oscar for Cinematography and was nominated in many other categories. Great costumes, set decoration, and lighting. Using original Japanese locations was a masterful touch. Involving, multi-layered performances from the principal actors brought this fictional story to life.
