Follow the directions and it will form a tough durable base coat for painting steel that contains rust. I had some unpainted steel targets that had some surface rust on them. I wanted to paint them but I didn't want to just paint over the rust. I gave them a light sanding and put two coats of the Rust Reformer on both sides of the targets. I then painted the targets with the Rust-Oleum white paint. After I was through shooting, the white color was obviously marred but the black base coat appeared to hold up just fine. Very happy with this product.

Don't buy this online if you have a Wal Mart in your town. I found this same product at Wal Mart for $5.97. I paid $8.00 for it online.

Rascal works. Chemical reaction with rust makes born-again iron. Just clean the nozzle every time and VOILA! Lazy Man paints that iron for the LAST time. Like painting instead of replacing rust-stained fence elements. Too expensive to let a custom iron railing rust out at the bottom. Thanks.

Will cover over rust for a smooth surface but not stop it completely it's still there rotting the metal it's just makes it so you can paint over the rust, nothing more just cover it and let the rust eat up your car / truck frame or other metal in peace out of sight out mind. Until the vehicles body is rotted to the point you scrap or sell it whichever comes first.

Rust-oleum rust reformer is an oil base rust reformer and in my opinion is better than water base reformer. It takes only two coats and water base takes four or five coats so it doesn't cost as much. As long as you clean any loose rust with a wire brush or wheel you will get good results.
