My husband and I were encouraged to read this book to help us through the hump in our marriage. The book is Bible-based, which I like, so it follows what Christ teaches. The way it is written, it is broken down into daily devotionals with either personal experiences from the authors, or other individuals with relevant experiences to the topic. Each week the topic changes and there are questions that each spouse answers. Saturdays and Sundays readings are for summing up the previous topic and introducing the next, usually with no questions. The topics are point-on and really open the conversation up to deal with things that each person may not want to deal with. Life is hard and a marriage is no different. It takes work to be successful in both. This book is designed for couples with children who live in the home. We are empty-nesters, so interacting with children in the home is not applicable to our situation. We are still going through the book and intend to finish it. While doing the devotionals, my husband and I have learned many new things about each other and continue to work on the areas we need to change. I believe that the guidance from this book has helped us put how we handle situations, people and emotions into proper perspective. It has taught us a great deal about how Christ expects us to carry ourselves in our relationships and how to retrain yourself to follow that example.Read full review
