If you are wanting a book to explain the details about Windows 10, find another book - if you are just starting to use a computer and want to know some basic information about the computer and Windows, this is your book. This book explains what in boring detail about how to use a computer and little about the details of Windows 10. The book explains what a mouse is, what it looks like, how to use it; what a keyboard is, what it looks like, and how to use it; the book even explains all about touch screens. The book even tells you how to turn the computer on.I have used computers for over 20 years and now that I purchased a new computer with Windows 10, I wanted a book to explain the intricate details about Windows 10. This book provided me with very little to nothing about Windows 10.

The book lives up to its title right down to the smallest details such as extra large type so that us seniors with poor eyesight can read it. The examples, illustrations and instructions are well documented so that there's no guesswork in following them. Explanations are clear. So far I've used it to adjust ease-of-use settings such as making the pointer arrow bigger so that I don't keep losing it. In the past, I've wasted a lot of time and been very frustrated trying to find it. I've also made the text bigger in many cases, and in some places have changed the screen to white letters on a black background which is so much easier on my eyes. A book like this gives seniors just enough confidence that they feel safe to go in and make a few changes on their own. Give it a try.

Easy to follow step by step but wish there was a better explanation of working with photos - how to import, how to find them when you do, how to print them and how to do slide shows, how to put things on external hard drive - all easy on windows 7 but very difficult for me on 10 and not explained in the book.

The computer has not been unpacked yet, and will not be until spring cleaning is completed. First, I have to learn how to set up and use the new computer and then Windows 10. I have used Windows 7 for years and hate to give it up, but progress??? pushes on. I will continue using the Windows 7 computer until it is necessary to quit. It will take some time before headway will be made with summer coming on and country life is quite demanding. Thanks for having the book on the internet so I was able to get it to study it in my spare time. I am giving this book a 5-star rating because I have always found these books very helpful.

The format of the book is terribly confusing at least to me. I had been using windows 7 and saw no need to change to "10" until it was decided to end windows 7 earlier this year. To be totally honest I suppose if you are technically
oriented and more computer literate this book may be of help. It didn't help me at all to conquer the mighty windows' 10 expanded range of utilities. I manage to muddle thru for the few things I use the computer for........but most of it I find unnecessary and appealing to a different user group.

I kept getting messages from Microsoft that my browser and other things were not going to be supported as my computer was over ten years old, so I got a new tower that had Windows 10 loaded on it which it is not at all like my previous one. The first IT tech really knew very little about moving and copying the files to this new one, so I got an IT tech from another place. He took my old and new computer in and he had it for a little over a week. Then I had to have him back because I could not get to my email file folders. Therefore I ordered this book and several other ones to help me work through this new computer.

Got them s as a gag gift for someone who's work computers were just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 10. The senior part of it was the gag let me to make the purchase worth it.
Has reasonable information to use Windows 10 for someone who doesn't have a knack of picking up new software and learning to use it.

Might buy one for my Mother who just bought a new laptop with Windows 10.

The title fit me. However, the book assumed some prior experience with computers and terminology. The book would have been more beneficial if it had a glossary and the Figure images were not so dark that at times the images were hard to see. The book was helpful. If you have no prior experience at all I would highly recommend the book: "Is This Thing On?" A Computer Handbook for Late Bloomers, Technophobes. and the Kicking & Screaming by Abby Stokes. I have the 2008 version (not the latest version available) and that is why I was looking for help with Windows 10 because I was forced to get a new computer with Windows 10. The Windows 10 is very different from Vista that I was use to and I needed help understanding the differences! I hope this review is helpful to someone.

this book is very hard to read the examples given because of lack of contrast between supposedly black and white. ( it is more like dark gray and gray ) windows 10 so far is slow and requires too many places to go to really find what you are looking for --- will know more in the following weeks.

I am having a new computer with Windows 10 installed tomorrow. This book has made the move less scary. I have been reading relevant chapters and it makes me feel more confident. I have got two books about Windows 10 and this one is more user friendly than the other
I would have liked a little more information about Skype and downloading books. I can see me looking up different things just the coming days. It was a good buy and I think it will be so helpful tome.
