Tara Brach, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist, an internationally known teacher of mindfulness meditation, and the founder of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington. She is author of bestselling Radical Acceptance, True Refuge, and Radical Compassion. She has contributed numerous articles to popular magazines and websites.

I absolutely love these meditations. And to me they are actually much more than meditations. Many important messages I haven't heard expressed in these ways before that are already beginning to help and I will listen again and again. Maybe even when doing laundry etc. to be calm, centered, and let the messages sink in more and more until I can use them automatically. I'm glad to see this is on audible because I would like to listen on a nature walk or even a walk around the neighborhood (or maybe I'll try one of her other audios for that). Probably not how the author meant for them to be used but I think they can be used as meditations, or to listen to any time. there are 2 CD's included. I also appreciate that each meditation/ topic is printed on the CDs kind of like chapters if you're looking for a particular one although the font is very tiny and a bit hard to read. Wish I had this years ago and so glad I found it.

This guided meditation is excellent. Tara Brach takes those of us who struggle with meditating and leads us into it without doing or saying too much. That is the beauty of her presentation; she knows what to say and when to say it......and when to be quiet. Great purchase for anyone wishing to find your way into meditating.

I love the topic of mindfulness. This CD is the best and I would give it 10 stars if I could. Tara's voice is very relaxing. I've read mindfulness books and they contain too much information making it's hard to grasp. Tara explains it in 3-4 minute segments that makes it easy to grasp and relate to. And her meditations are lovely and relaxing. .

This is a good introduction to mindful meditation techniques, especially for someone like me who was having problems maintaining focus. Tara Brach provide a short introduction before each guided mediation, which you can skip once you're familiar with the upcoming practice. She also does a great job of guiding you through and helping you maintain focus. I highly recommend this set for those just beginning meditation.

She's the best! I have listened to one particular Mindfulness Meditation of her's on YouTube for 2 years and finally decided to move forward and get her 2 cd set.....So happy that I did. Her voice and guided meditations are soothing and truly from a place of love...learning to center and work through many events in one's life. . . without getting depressed....Very calming and uplifting as well. the comentary by the person who created this can put you to sleep instead of helping us to better ourseves by mindfulness. The only one track I found helpful concerning dealing with pain, that allows you to sleep. I would never buy this person's cds again.

I was familiar with mindfulness meditation, but was unsure if I was doing it correctly. So, I decided to get a CD with guided practice, and I happily chose the right one!
-Easy to listen to
-Relaxing voice
-Clear instructions
-By doing it as a guided practice, you can be comforted that you are following the instructions that are there to help you

Tara Brach has written some excellent books about mindful mediation using client stories and teaching us healing mindful meditations. Her CDs are very good and really help with emotional healing

This is advertised in the blurb as providing 'nine guided practices.' In a two CD set I therefore expected the guided meditations to be reasonably substantial.
What you actually get are a series of introductions to the practices followed by a guided meditation. Six of these are less than 12minutes long. Of the other three two are less than 15 mins and the longest is less than 20mins.
I don't think this CD set is therefore a good introduction to mindfulness as I think you cannot get a real feel for mindfulness without spending longer periods allowing your mind to settle down and stop wanting to be entertained/distracted. Neither is it really great if you already practice mindfulness since the practices feel superficial due to their length.
However, the guided practices are good as short meditations to be used as 'breathing spaces' throughout the day.
