Manufacture error
Had as similar heater purchased 11 years ago and it is now hard to start. Researched and found the Hiland HLDS032 as close to the one that served me well for a decade but this new heater came missing the hole through the "Base" to bring the propane tank hose through. It forces me to use a small canister that fits inside. Many complaints ref all manufactures of table top heater is that the small inside canisters last only a few hours at best and that the ability to attach a 20# bottle is necessary. Called manufacture and they admit that they are aware of this issue and unfortunately have a number of pallets with potentially similar issues; "...it is just not feasible to go through all to find the ones with this error..." There is a part list in the back of the manual and asked to have just the correct with hole base plate sent and he stated, very politely, "we have no correct parts for this heater". Called Amazon and will provide a refund upon receiving the defective heater. All-in-all given assembly time x2, not to mention the time to take box back to UPS is hours along with more research for a heater......such is life. Also, I believe the top was missing from the metal umbrella. Just have three exposed metal screws sticking up through the top with a 4 center hole meant to secure a top plate to protect and hide these attachment points as seen in other brands.

Works great. This table top patio heater was easy to put together and the pilot light ignites on the first or second click of the igniter every time.
Most reviewers that have given this heater low grades is because it does not put out enough heat. A person has to understand that this heater is only 11,000 BTUs, so you must be fairly close to it to stay warm. I for one, placed it on a small table between two patio chairs about 24" from each chair. It keeps us warm at outside temps down to the low 50's when there is no wind. Any colder than that, or if it's windy, I have no desire to sit outside anyway.
I also run the heater off a 20 lb tank and a adapter hose. The 1 lb bottles would last less than 2 hours on high. The only complaint I have is that there is no cutout in the base for the adapter hose as the pictures show. But it looks great and performs well.
