Actron's CP7529 Digital Timing Light features microprocessor-controlled circuitry and is loaded with advanced features including a bright LED display, mode indicator lights, and flashlight. The ideal timing light for the heavy do-it-yourselfer or professional technician. Use to measure engine RPM and advance, and set initial timing, check and measure centrifugal advance, and measure vacuum advance. Works on gasoline powered vehicles equipped with conventional, electronic, computer controlled, DIS, or 2-cycle ignition systems. Digital LED tachometer display reads 0-9999 RPM. Advance display indicates to 1/10. Handy 2/4 cycle and RPM/advance mode lights help you keep track of settings and multi-task. RPM/advance selector button and up/down buttons that increase or reduce the advance make operation simple and easy. Features a super bright Xenon flash that makes it easy to see timing marks - even in daylight. The all-metal inductive pickup and durable ABS housing offer rugged reliability while heat resistant over molding on battery clips prevents burned fingers. Actron CP7529 has a “flashlight” button to just make the strobe light flash so fast that it looks like a flashlight. It also has a 2/4 cycle button but never seen anyone adjusting timing on a two cycle engine. Actron mag clamp is all metal.The Actron is 10 years old, is stored in toolbox with other stuff,and recently the wiring on the mag pickup was loose, I opened and tightened wiring and it is working again.Innova is brand new so don’t know how long it will last.Compared to Innova on the tubesearch for “vrrQrzg2hy0”

I was using it in my garage in the middle of the day and it seemed just a bit dim. Even still, it works just fine. Hasn't been dropped yet, so I cannot attest to the durability of the plastic.

I usually borrowed my friend's timing light when needed. I ended up buying this one after looking at them at the parts store. I wouldn't recommend models below this one due to the lack of features. This one is built well and has all you need to get the job done right the first time. It is a bit different to get used to compared to the adjustable knob on the dinosaur models but will soon be forgotten with how easy it is to use. If your going to buy a timing light, this will do for most people unless you need the name of a high dollar company like snap on. Check out which model you want at the parts store and save big by ordering online here.

I like it, I tested it on my 2001 Harley Davidson sportster. I saw the video of a guy using it on a motorcycle. It's great to have the digital RPM display and timing. I don't have to spend money on a tach, I can use this for two things. The only down side is it has a cheap plastic feeling, but if you're gentle it should be fine.

I just received and used the timing light for the first time this weekend. It worked perfectly. The RPM and light functions are priceless. The only gripe I might have is the .1 degree accuracy makes getting to your timing point a little slow. You can change the value quickly by holding the button but I kept over or under shooting the value that I wanted. A .5 degree Increment or jump might be easier but not required.

I had never used a dial back timing light before but now I know I'll never go back to a standard one again. This makes it so easy to check timing at two different points quickly. I used the dial back to set my base timing, then read the additional timing advance from both the centrifugal and vacuum advance on the engine timing marker.
The light is nice and bright although I had to angle it a little to get the brightest spot on the marks.

I bought this timing light to replace a Sears unit that was failing on me. It's plenty bright and I love the built-in tach and advance feature since I use it mostly to time vintage motorcycles. Motorcycle tachs are notoriously inaccurate so having the digital one right on the timing light is very handy. I even use this on 6 volt motorbikes and engines without electrical systems. Since it has an inductive pickup, I simply use an auxiliary 12 volt battery to power the light. I consider a timing light to be my most valuable tool when it comes time to troubleshoot ignition systems and this unit, with its additional features, makes it even more valuable.

Please DO NOT BUY THIS! VERY POOR QUALITY! Most people reviewed the product as soon as they got it and loved it. THIS IS A REVIEW AFTER OWNING IT FOR TWO MONTHS. THESE ARE RESULTS YOU CAN EXPECT! When I first got it I couldn't help but notice how light and fragile this light felt. Since it seems so fragile I would have thought it would have shipped in a better box. Instead it was sent in its plastic bubble package in just a box without any cushion. I carefully opened everything up and used it. It worked nicely. I completed my job with it and carefully cleaned it and placed it back into the box it was shipped in. I placed the box on a shelf where it sat in a climate controlled shed. It remained undisturbed from vibration or any sort of damage for two months. I went to use it yesterday and it no longer works! Amazon will not take it back and I now have to deal with the manufacturer. I HATE THIS THING!! There is only one other review of someone using it after they bought it and the same thing happened. I dismissed that review because I didn't know the guy and figured he somehow was jarring or knocking the light around. I should have listened. I hope you do to. The quality is poor. I cannot stress to you how careful I am with my tools. This tool is a very poor value.

The pickup is very intermittent causing the tachometer and strobe to stop working during use. Also had the tacho reading from 700-2500rpm on an idling engine. When I tried to time an engine the problem with the strobe caused the timing mark to jump about. I have now tried the lamp on a few engines and had the same issues.
