This is seriously a crazy buy. $4 each?! I though msybe I paid $8 each, which would STILL be a good deal!
The metal tube IS attached to the plastic, it comes apart if you pull REALLY hard. There is also a flap on the inside that is one way. That surprised me.
For my purposes I ripped off the metal tube and stuck the end on my pvc pipe. One I had to cut the collar off to get it to sit somewhat flush. Not a big deal.
I will spray these brown later to better match my cabin. Plan to buy for my dryer later when I build a house.
Seriously, if you are complaining about a $4 full system dryer vent, you don't have much better things to do...

First of all, let's talk about the "wide mouth" feature. I have never seen a dryer vent hood with such a large opening. It's like the dryer vent equivalent of a giant yawn. But in a good way, of course. The wide mouth allows for more efficient airflow, which means my clothes dry faster. And let's be honest, who doesn't want to save time on laundry day?
But here's the real kicker: the white color. Now, you might be thinking, "What's so funny about a white dryer vent hood?" Well, let me tell you. My husband, bless his heart, thought it would be a good idea to paint our old dryer vent hood black to match the trim on our house. Spoiler alert: it was not a good idea. The black paint started chipping and flaking off after a few months, and it just looked ridiculous. So, when we saw that the Deflecto Dryer Vent Hood came in white, we jumped at the chance to replace our janky, DIY black hood.
Now, every time I do laundry, I can't help but chuckle at our white, wide-mouthed dryer vent hood. It's like a little beacon of hope in the midst of the mundane task of folding laundry. It's also a great conversation starter. When friends come over and see our fancy new dryer vent hood, they can't help but ask about it. And who doesn't love talking about their laundry setup?
Overall, I would give the Deflecto Dryer Vent Hood, Wide Mouth, 4", White (RVHAW4) four out of five stars. It may seem silly to give a dryer vent hood such a high rating, but it has truly brought joy to my laundry routine. If you're in the market for a new dryer vent hood, I highly recommend this one. It's efficient, stylish, and a little bit hilarious.
Here are some useful tips and tricks for maintaining your dryer vent hood:
1. Regularly clean the dryer vent hood: A buildup of lint and debris can clog the vent hood and reduce its efficiency. It's essential to clean the vent hood regularly to prevent clogging and ensure optimal performance. Use a brush or a vacuum cleaner to remove any lint, dust, or debris from the vent hood.
2. Check the vent hood flaps: The vent hood flaps prevent cold air and debris from entering the vent system. Ensure that the flaps open and close correctly and that they're not stuck or obstructed. If the flaps are not functioning correctly, you may need to replace the vent hood.
3. Install a bird guard: Birds and other small animals may try to build nests in the vent hood, leading to clogging and reduced airflow. Installing a bird guard will prevent animals from entering the vent hood while allowing proper airflow.
4. Check the vent hood's position: The vent hood should be positioned at least 12 inches above the ground to prevent debris from entering the vent system. Ensure that the vent hood is securely attached to the wall and that there are no gaps or leaks.
5. Inspect the vent pipe: Check the vent pipe for any damage, such as cracks or holes, and ensure that it's properly connected to the vent hood and the dryer. If you notice any damage, replace the vent pipe immediately.
6. Regularly clean the dryer vent: In addition to cleaning the vent hood, you should also clean the dryer vent regularly. A clogged dryer vent can cause your dryer to overheat, leading to potential fire hazards. Clean the vent at least once a year, or more frequently if you notice that your clothes are taking longer to dry.
By following these tips and tricks, you can maintain your dryer vent hood and ensure optimal performance and safety
