    The four RCA outs are NOT for 4 channel Front and Rear
    Please be aware if you plan to use this head unit to output 4 channels to an external amp. Incredibly - it does not!!!I purchased this unit to upgrade my older Sony (DXS-MS60). It does not provide the same functionality. The '2 PREOUT' and 'x4' with this unit comes with caveats.As you can see in my pic, the 2 preouts are REAR and SUB. They are not for Front and Rear as with my older Sony, and most other head units with 4 channel capability. In short - the REAR outs means ONLY two channels available for external amplification. The other outs are for a sub. 4 channel functionality on this unit only applies to the INTERNAL amplifier!!!!!!!Not sure why they restricted the RCA outs to only 2 channels when the unit is processing 4 internally. I thought I was missing something , so I called Sony customer service. After being put on hold several times and about 30 minutes explaining to the representative my exact concern, the above indeed was confirmed - the 2 PREOUTS do not provide 4 channels.Do not make my mistake. I purchased several months ago, and only recently had a chance to install. So not only did I miss the Amazon Return window, but the Sony representative confirmed they would not accept the return because the unit was not defective. I guess I'm stuck and will keep for a future 2 channel install. Chances of my new 4 -channel unit being a Sony = ZERO.

    Fits perfect, sounds great, initial controls are not that intuitive so definitely keep that manual close by for the first couple weeks. Also you will need to make some adjustments to the wiring harness so keep some wire strippers close by.

    About the only negative I will mention is that the connection lines are kinda light gauge, probably <14g. It has a 10amp fuse and I'd say the wire would melt before the fuse would blow unfortunately. Why be so cheap on the connection wire when the rest of the package seems quite adequate? How much could the next size or two up actually cost extra? Otherwise, it's a reasonably priced unit for a 19ft Yamaha SX192. Display is easy to read and operation is pretty straightforward. If any quirks comes along I'll update. Can't talk of longevity, but here's to hoping. One star off for the light gauge connection wires.

    UPDATE - after two summer seasons of usage this unit is working VERY well. It pumps enough RMS to feed stock JBL 6 1/2" speakers x 4 on a 2015 Yamaha SX192. Completely satisfied as the OEM Clarion, if available, would be >$200, and IT only lasted 3 seasons before giving up the ghost. Although the wiring, as previously mentioned, is somewhat a light gauge, it's still providing adequate "bump" to the speakers so I cannot complain. Bluetooth connection is stable to Android, cannot comment on Apple connections. There's NOTHING to dislike at the $100 price point. Bumping up my rating to 5 stars!!!!

    This is a good, solid, marine radio. I honestly think the controls could be a bit more intuitive but the sound quality is excellent, and the installation could not have been easier.
    My one complaint with this and most other marine radios is they loose their settings when power is removed. Common Sony (and others manufacturers) most boat owners use battery disconnect switches to make sure they can crank their boats when they return. This is because some of us only use our boats every few weeks. So when you completely remove power from this unit it forgets all it's presets, it forgets all its bluetooth pairings, it forgets everything. You know, there is such a thing as "flash memory" and it doesn't cost all that much.

     I used this head unit for a fairing sound system install on my motorcycle. I needed something that was weatherproof and had a nice easy to read display and large buttons that I could press easily wearing gloves whilst riding. This ticked everything I needed, plus it was priced very well.

    All the buttons and the volume knob feel high quality. I've had it in a few rain storms and it hasn't missed a beat.
    Even over bluetooth the audio is crisp and clear.

    UPDATE ... Bottom Line Up Front: DON'T BUY SONY MARINE PRODUCTS. Corrosion formed over two weeks on a brand new unit ... enough corrosion to void the manufactures warranty. I can only assume that the advertising on the anti-corrosion coating is EXTREMELY exaggerated or that this is a manufacturing defect (my contention with them). After this experience, I will not even CONSIDER a Sony marine ANYTHING. It is NOT manufactured correctly to handle use on water.

    This radio was a disappointment for a very specific reason: It failed within a month of first usage. Even worse, the warranty REPLACEMENT unit failed less than a month after installing it. The first unit's failure was the inability to leave demo mode, i.e. making it useless. The second unit's failure was more spectacular ... a blown fuse on the water leaving a nice toxic smoke behind the control panel. This was followed by the blowing of a replacement fuse back on shore when power was reapplied. Obviously, something in the unit has a major short -- the second fuse blew immediately, produced some arcing, and a nice puff of toxic smoke!

    Kudos to Sony on the first replacement process. No so good on this second replacement. At least it's under warranty (and I bought an Amazon extended warranty, too).

    When it worked, the sound was good with plenty of volume without distortion. Bluetooth with an iPhone worked fine but it was slightly cumbersome getting them paired. It was easy to read in the bright sunlight and fairly easy to operate. Tuning FM could be a challenge but once I got it going, it wasn't that difficult.

    If I were to do this over, I would NOT buy this radio. Instead, I would spend the additional money on a Sonichub 2 to work with my Lowrance unit and put a plate over the hole in my boat's dash.

    I was hoping for a direct wiring swap with an older Sony radio, but that didn't happen. So I had to rewire from an existing radio setup to this one, which actually went quite well. The mounting carrier for this radio was a little unnerving in the beginning to me, but proved to be fine after I saw how small and light this radio was compared to the old one. I was thinking I was going to mount a carrier with some screws into my helm and then slide the radio in, well no, the carrier just has some push out tabs that hold to the helm and work great. sound quality and reception are both outstanding. I do not play extremely loud, but have cranked it up and do not have distortion usually associated with doing so.

    Plug was different from older Sony, needed rewiring of all incoming wires to new connector. No threads in back hole for strap support. Bluetooth is a bit finicky when you have connected more than one phone. Sound is good. Radio is good. Value is good.
