This is a question we hear almost daily. We understand the need and desire to have peace of mind, for an antenna that will not be destroyed or fear that it will break off and come flying through the windshield at any given moment in a car wash. We have listened to your requests! Our goal? To offer a revised version of our 6 3/4" antenna (Effective 2/11/2019) which will stout a new improved strength that will back a car wash proof durability yet retain the same superb reception of the original version. After 1.5 years of research and development, we finally nailed a version that not only met the reception standards of the original but through tweaking we have managed to improve its reception results. Its high strength has been put to the test by car wash companies and fleet trucks for a car wash chemical company. These trucks see upwards of 10 car washes daily, with a variety of different car wash machines.

I get a lot more interference and static on AM channels with it antenna when near any power lines and intersections.
Get's ok radio reception, but not as strong as the OEM antenna

I bought this to install on a 2019 F150 Platinum. This is the same antenna as the Vortex sold on Amazon, but costs $5 less. It’s also the same antenna as the one sold by Theantennasource (formally AntennaMastsRus) and by Vortex – they are all the same company in Wisconsin. I looked at the other popular model sold on Amazon, but didn’t like the carbon fiber ring on the base, that some reviewers said was prone to cracking. I found out how to enter the diagnostic menu on the F150 to measure radio signal strength. With the truck running, press and hold the right channel change button on the steering wheel and the right scan button on the radio until the diagnostic menu pops up. From there you can see the signal strength of your stations as you advance through them. I did a test of 6 FM stations and 6 AM stations with the OEM antenna and with this stubby antenna. There is definitely a signal drop with the stubby antenna. This test was conducted about 5 miles east of Milford, Michigan. The OEM antenna can be removed using a 10 mm box wrench and the stubby antenna screws in and is just hand tightened. Not sure what will keep someone from easily stealing it. Will use this a while when driving around to see if it will function OK, but will keep the OEM antenna close in case I need it when traveling in rural areas. This antenna ships in a plastic bag, I’ve seen other reviews where it ships in a cardboard box.Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2023
