The brush is not too harsh for him (he has a medium thickness beard, coarser than the extremely fine hair on his head but not wiry or stiff) and he likes that it is not as prickly as the boars hair brushes he has tried from other stores. The trimming shears are a great addition as he uses the wooden comb and trims any long runaways. Very nice beard grooming set!

Nice little kit for basic beard maintenance. My beard tends to dry out and feel gross, especially after shampooing. The oil does a nice job of softening my beard and keeping it feeling hydrated. My beard is also in an "in-between" phase, where it's pretty patchy in areas, but also unruly and wiry in others. The beard balm has done an excellent job of "suggesting" which way the hairs should lay. It's not crunchy or gross, but it has some hold. It's made my beard look a lot cleaner and fuller until it grows in the rest of the way.

The brushes are also nice. I had never used a boar brush before, but it really is a gamechanger. Helps the hair lay the right way. I appreciated the wooden comb as well. None of the brushes/combs have felt irritating or overly abrasive on my skin. The scissors have been great for cleaning up the mustache area and any stray hairs.

My one complaint is the scent. I bought the sandalwood. Neither the oil or the balm is heavily scented (which I liked), but there is a little fragrance there. And while the scent is not strong, it does stick around for a while. It doesn't smell bad, but it didn't smell very good to me either. Not the best sandalwood scent, in my opinion. When it's time to buy more oil or balm, I would probably stick to their unscented stuff. If I were to buy the kit again, I would probably try the grey kit. It comes with the same items, but the oil is unscented and the balm is citrus scented.

Overall, nice kit. It has definitely made my beard look nicer and feel better.

So after embracing the face furniture for November, my husband decided he enjoyed it and wanted to carry on, but had no clue what he was doing in terms of beard, maintenance and care. So I wanted to get him a little kit to start off for Christmas.

One of the main things I actually noticed was that without combing/brushing it every day, it would quickly look quite unruly, so I wanted to get him a comb set that he could use in the mornings while getting ready for work and this one had great reviews.

It’s a nice little kit and the comb is very gentle on his beard hair. It’s not that long so he’s not combing out lots of knots but it’s well-made and good quality , so would work perfectly for longer beards.

He hasn’t really needed to use the scissors again because his beard isn’t long enough, but when it comes to tidying up his moustache, they’re nice and sharp, so do a nice tidy job of tidying up any long, stray hairs and the soft bristle brush is ideal for getting it all too lay beautifully flat and straight after he puts the balm on.

Yes, I’m sure if you were a connoisseur or somebody who had a long bushy beard that required more maintenance, there are probably more expensive kits out there that will do a better job, but this was perfect as a gift to give him towards starting to look after his new face furniture, and he was very pleased with that
