Great grass for New York
I put a first batch of seed in late August. Grew in full by September with no issues. Picked up another bag recently (October) to fill in some light spots that could use some more fill. All I did was water 2x daily and saw sprouts within 3 weeks. We have been getting good October weather here in N.Y. so there should not be any issues. Will post an update.

I have used this seed on past lawns, and when I moved to this house last winter the yard was an absolute mess poor, compacted, rocky soil. I worked it fairly well in the spring and put down a combination of this seed and clover. It did pretty well the grass is soft and lush, and blended nicely with the clover. I had two unexpected surgeries and was unable to water at all for a month. And we had a terrible drought this summer in the Northeast. The areas where I didn’t plant enough of this seed or clover or absolutely taken over by the crabgrass and other obnoxious weeds. I have ordered two more bags of this, and one more bag of the clover. I will make sure that when I put it down this week I really fill in all the areas well. Even during the drought the clover stayed green. This grass did turn brown, as it’s survival mechanism. But once I was able to start watering again and it came right back. Very happy with this product and recommend putting clover down with any grass To help it survive the rough times…

My neighbor bought this item and I could not believe the difference in his yard to mine. His grass is so green and full looking. All this in just one year. I plan to spread these seeds as soon as the weather permits. The price was better than other brands I reviewed. I mainly went with this brand because I have first-hand knowledge of the outcome. I am sure my backyard will look as good as his, it has too it is the same product. I will definitely purchase more from this seller when the time comes. Very fast shipping.

I have used other grass seed that was up within a week or two weeks. I was about to write a bad review on this after the seeds sat there for almost 3 weeks with nothing! Then all of a sudden it started coming up! I am in North Carolina so not sure if that makes a difference. I will buy more in the spring to fill in the rest of my yard that looks bad, may grow faster in the spring. But it does work and looks nice, just keep it watered and be patient.

Had to move some dirt in backyard this winter on a slight slope so needed grass quick to help with erosion. Normally I prefer Rye due to it’s cheaper cost and quick growth but was too cold for that. This took a few weeks to get going but we were in a big cold snap at the time which may have slowed its initial start. But after about a month it was growing nicely and thick with barely any care from myself. I like the grass type. We’ll see how it handles the coming summer.

Bought two bags of this a year apart to repair bare spots in my yard. Neither ever sprouted grass. Watered as recommended. This year I bought Scott’s EZ Seed and Repair Tall Fescue. After one week I had little sprouts showing up. In 3 weeks it’s growing nicely and evenly covered. I have no idea why the Pennington never worked.

We planted this grass seed in a very shady area of our backyard in Northeast Oklahoma where nothing grows. I covered the grass with a layer of peat moss and kept the peat moss moist. After only one week the grass started popping up through the peat moss. We are now at about 1.5 weeks and the tender blades of grass some are reaching about 3 inches tall while others are still coming up through the peat moss.
Delivery was fast after purchase and the parcel arrived without damages. I have only used a small portion of the seed but if I need more seed this is certainly a product that I would order.

To see why I have such a high opinion of this product, see my 1-star review of Scott's Sun and Shade seed.

In brief: the Pennington seed came in fast, thick and green, everything I was hoping for. Its extra cost (vs, for example, the Scott seed) is very much worth paying.

I won't be using any other seed in the future.

P.S. I live in Northern Virginia, about 20 miles due West of DC.
