How we got our start

We founded Baby K’tan in 2007 – each of our families was raising a child with special needs. We began researching best practices for healthy infant development and were quickly introduced to the world of babywearing. Using a carrier is practical and helps promote a strong parent- child bond.

Give it a chance even if you think It’s too small

I almost returned when I tried it on with the baby. It does stretch out but not too much. I also have the ergo 360 and Boba wrap. This is so much easier. I actually just wear to around the house even if I’m not holding the baby. It’s easy to slip him in and out but also holds him securely. The beige at benefit is I can slip it on while holding him. The others require 2 hands. There are also a bunch of ways to carry the baby. One of my faves is as a sling over his swaddle when he is screeching and insisting on being carried (not held) while going down for naps or to bed.

When I was first pregnant with my children, all of my siblings recommended I get a K'Tan--was much more user friendly than a carrier that has all the wraps!--was a staple for each of the them. It took a return to get the right size at first (listed for a M on my registry when I really needed a Sm or XS), but once that was sorted out, it has gotten a lot of use during each of my pregnancies! I swaddled my oldest daughter in this carrier to go for walks and the occasional Zoom meeting when I was first back to work; my second daughter LIVED in this wrap, since she's a cuddle bug--I've been able to wear her while I've cooked supper, and done other household chores, while she napped or needed some extra "Mama and me' time. I've only tried one or two different ways to wear it, since they got a little too big/wiggly even before the weight limit threshold, but definitely consider this a mainstay for anyone who is expecting or settling in with a new little one!

Not what I hoped for

I love my soft, stretchy wrap for carrying baby, but it’s a hassle to wrap and put on/unwrap and take off, so I thought a soft carrier with a bit more structure, like this, would be perfect for my 7 week old baby. I was torn between getting a size small or medium. I wear medium in clothes, but according to the size chart I was a small (5’7 size 8). I should have ignored their guidelines and gone with my gut because size small is a little too small for us. That wouldn’t have been a deal breaker, I would have kept it in hopes I’d shed more of the baby weight as time went on, but the fabric is, in fact, a dealbreaker. The fabric is stiff and scratchy, I don’t want it against my adult skin, so I certainly don’t want it against my baby’s sensitive skin. Lastly, and I’m not sure if this is due to the size being a tad too small or if it’s the fault of the carrier, there isn’t adequate head/neck support for my bub. I’m disappointed because I wanted something like this to throw in the diaper bag or to easily wear in an emergency (it’s fire season here in Nor Cal). I guess my quest for the perfect soft carrier continues, but until then I’ll stick with my pain in the rear adjustable stretchy/soft wrap.

First, I ordered a medium size after looking at the sizing chart. After more than a couple uses, I noticed how much the fabric stretched and that I was having to fold to try and deal with excess fabric around baby. Baby would sink super low on me, and my lower back HURT and pulling down the loop in the back just didn't help. Finally, I just decided to return the medium and ordered a small (I also tried other carriers...but baby isn't a fan of other ones). The small is perfect! At first it seemed a little tight, but I can tell that even with the fabric stretching it'll still fit and be fine. Also, my back doesn't hurt at all anymore. Yay!
